Introducing Rosie Swale Pope
ROSIE SWALE POPE MBE - achieved the longest unsupported run in world history - 0ver 33,000 KILOMETRES, 1,789 days
Adventurer CV
Longest unsupported run in world history. Over 20,000 miles - 1789 days; alone facing wolves, extreme cold and loneliness - saying 'I CAN '. Rosie's brother engraved the outline of her foot on the flagstone of her house the day she left - that magic First Step! When she was greeted by 6,000 people on arrival back in her home in Tenby, Wales at the finish of the run nearly five years later, her other brother drew the outline of her foot next to the FIRST STEP. 'There's the first step and the last step - so very much had happened in between those two footsteps,' Rosie says- ' I very strongly believe that there's no such thing as an ordinary person, you can overcome fear if you face it.. and the power to aim higher and dream bigger is within the spirit of every single human being. To go beyond all the horizons. My run is just a small example of this'
Forthcoming Rosie’s 101 NEW CHALLENGES
- Sailing alone across the Atlantic in a 17ft boat.
- Sailing to Australia and back around Cape Horn with her family
- Running 27 marathons in 27 days in Britain pulling 300lb sled cart/ sled Icebird used in world run, for charity.
- Twice completing Marathon des Sables – The Toughest Foot Race on Earth’
- Early journeys in USA, Russia, South America, worldwide.
Rosie was immensely inspired by her very kind brave friend, wonderful Miles Hilton-Barber after being at an event with him recently and hearing him challenge the audience - to 'Do something new.. the last you did something new was the last time you grew as a person! Dream Bigger, Aim Higher!' . She's just started 101 new challenges dedicated to Miles himself.'
Last month Rosie went wing walking, and did extreme aerobatics, and is also taking flying lessons with long term goal of flying around the world like Amelia Earhart - to compared this with the world run!
